Get to know your dog trainer and cheerleader
Let’s get to know each other.
I’m Kara Polansky, CDBC, CPDT-KA, Master in Teaching.
As a child, I fell in love with dogs. As a teen, I fell in love with behavior. As a young adult, I fell in love with teaching.
Today, I combine all three in my daily vocation--helping you and your animals thrive!
I believe that these three areas of expertise are essential to being an effective coach for both you and your dog, and that my skill and experience with each helps me navigate the needs and desires of all beings in your household.
You’ll benefit from my experience ranging from training service dogs…
Although I had trained and competed with my personal dogs from childhood, my professional behavior career began in college when I raised/trained service dog puppies through Aggie Guide Dogs and Service Dogs, and later supervised the puppy raising/training component of the organization, while earning my degree in Psychology.
A throwback to my service dog training days.
… To earning a Master’s in Teaching. I don’t just train dogs: I coach you.
After college, I earned my Master’s Degree in Teaching and spent several years teaching in urban schools before deciding that I missed daily work with animals, and began working in the zoological field with animals ranging from snakes to sea lions. Today, these varied professional paths have merged into the creation of Canine Behavior Connection, where I provide individualized coaching for your dog’s behavioral wellness.
Canine Behavior Connection Mission:
Compassionately educating and changing behavior to create homes where all members thrive.
Credentials
I strongly believe in the professionalization of the field of dog behavior, which is why I regularly pursue new credentials, in addition to engaging with ongoing professional development from worldwide leaders in the fields of animal behavior and human learning/coaching.
